Budwig cream: the Kousmine Method’s breakfast

Budwig cream derives its name from Johanna Budwig (1908-2003), a German physicist and biochemist who would recommend a regular intake of linseeds, as well as first cold pressured organic  linseed oil and yoghurt, which allows a better absorption of liposoluble fatty acids.

Catherine Kousmine (1904-1992) was a Swiss physician, specialised in pediatrics, of Russian origin, who developed a healing method (kown as Kousmine Method) according to which nutrition was the first of 6 basic rules, absolutely necessary in order to sustain and detoxify the body. As Catherine Kousmine used to share with Johanna Budwig the same views on fatty essential acids, in her honour she wanted to call “Budwig cream” a recipe that she conceived for breakfast. The cream contains, among other nutrients, essential fatty acids needed by our body for the entire day, and therefore its regular intake will strengthen the immune system. The recipe is as follows:

  • add 2 teaspoonfuls of organic cold pressured linseed oil to 4 teaspoonfuls of natural fat-free yoghurt, preferably organic soya or goat yoghurt, and beat the cream until the oil is completely absorbed (the latter is of utmost importance for a good digestion);
  • add the juice of half a lemon to the cream;
  • grind throroughly 2 teaspoonfuls of raw organic cereals (barely, oat, rice, millet or  buckwheat) with 1 teaspunful of oily seeds (linseeds, sesame seeds, nuts, hazels, almonds, pine nuts, sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds). As to cereals, remember that rice and buckwheat are not recommended to those suffering from constipation, whereas oat helps to empty the intestines. Do not take wheat, rye, or a blend of cereals. As to oily seeds, linseeds and sesame seeds must necessarily be grinded, whereas the other seeds can also be chewed wholly. Alternate cereals and seeds every day.
  • Add the grinded cereals and seeds to the cream, together with one teaspoonful of honey or organic dark sugar (not necessary);
  • either cut or squash a ripe banana and add to the cream;
  • add a seasonal fruit.

It is very tasty. Have a good breakfast!

    I hardly comment, however I glanced through a few comments here Budwig cream: the Kousmine Methods breakfast Giovanna Mazzarino.
    I actually do have 2 questions for you if it’s okay. Is it simply me or do a few of the comments come across as if they are written by brain dead individuals? 😛 And, if you are writing at other online social sites, I’d like to follow you.
